Medical Aesthetics in Aurora, Done Carefully

Most people who search for a medical aesthetics clinic are not looking for a dramatic change. They want to look rested, keep their skin healthy, deal with one thing that has bothered them for years, or feel more like themselves in photos. That is the kind of work we do at Glow Med Clinic, at 114 to 35 Sunday Drive in Aurora, Ontario.

We offer injectables, skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal and body treatments. Every plan starts with a free consultation, where we look at your skin, listen to what you want and tell you honestly what a treatment can and cannot do. If something is not right for you, we say so. Our injectable treatments are performed by our certified nurse practitioner, and the clinic is nurse led from the first visit to the follow up.

This page explains what medical aesthetics means, which treatments suit which concerns, what to expect on the day, and what to ask any clinic before you book. Use it as a map. Each section links to a page with more detail on that treatment.

What Is a Medical Aesthetics Clinic?

A medical aesthetics clinic provides cosmetic treatments that work below the surface of the skin or change how muscles and tissue behave. Think wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, radiofrequency microneedling, light and laser devices, and treatments that use your own platelets. These are not products you can buy at a counter, and they are not treatments a hair salon or a day spa would normally offer.

Because the treatments are more powerful, the way they are delivered is different. A good medical aesthetics clinic assesses your skin and health history before treating you, uses regulated professionals, works in a clinical setting, explains the risks and gives you written aftercare. That structure is the real difference. It is not the price tag or the decor.

How it differs from a spa or salon

A spa focuses on relaxation and surface care, such as a cleanse, a mask and a massage. Those have a place, and many clients enjoy them. A medical aesthetics clinic goes further: it can relax the muscle that causes a frown line, restore volume under the eyes, trigger collagen production, or reduce hair growth over several months. Because those treatments change how your body behaves, they should be planned and carried out by trained health professionals.

Find the Right Treatment for Your Concern

You do not need to know the name of a treatment before you come in. Most clients arrive with a concern, and we work out the options together. This table shows the usual starting points. Your consultation will narrow it down for your skin and goals.

Injectables: Wrinkle Relaxers, Fillers and Sculptra

Wrinkle relaxers (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin)

Lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes are formed by muscles that move every time you frown, squint or raise your eyebrows. Wrinkle relaxers temporarily soften those muscles so the skin above them stops creasing. A good result does not look frozen. You can still frown if you want to, you just do it with less force.

Most people start to see a change within a few days, with the full effect after about two weeks. It wears off gradually over a few months, which is why people book repeat visits. We offer Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, and which one you receive depends on your face and your goals. Read more on our Botox and wrinkle relaxer page, or see how they compare with fillers in our guide to Botox vs dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers

Where relaxers deal with movement, fillers deal with volume. Faces change as we age. Cheeks flatten, the jawline softens and shadows appear under the eyes. Hyaluronic acid fillers replace that lost volume and give support to the area around it. Used well, they restore balance instead of changing how you look. We use them for the cheeks, chin, jawline, smile lines, lips and the tear trough area under the eyes.

The result of filler is visible straight away, and swelling settles over the next few days. How long it lasts depends on the product and the area, and our guide on how long dermal fillers last explains this in more detail. Bruising is the most common side effect, and our post on avoiding bruises from dermal fillers has practical tips. Start with our injectable clinic page, or go straight to lip filler or under eye filler.

Sculptra

Sculptra works differently from filler. It does not add volume by itself. It prompts your skin to produce more of its own collagen, so the change builds slowly over weeks and often needs more than one session. People choose it when they want a gradual, softer improvement in facial volume. See our Sculptra page for who it suits.

Skin Rejuvenation: Texture, Tone and Firmness

Microneedling and PRP

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create tiny controlled injuries in the skin. The skin responds by repairing itself, which over a series of sessions can improve texture, small scars and the overall quality of the skin. We can add PRP, which is made from a small sample of your own blood, or exosomes, to support healing. Our microneedling page and PRP page explain the options. If you are not sure whether microneedling is suitable, read who should not get microneedling first.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy that heats the deeper layers of the skin. It is used for firmness, texture and mild laxity on the face and neck, and is usually done as a short series of sessions. Expect some redness and swelling for a few days afterward. If you are comparing options, our posts on Morpheus8 vs Ultherapy and how many Morpheus8 sessions you need will help, and you can see the full treatment page for details.

Chemical peels and facials

Peels and facials are the everyday end of skin care. A chemical peel removes the top layer of dull skin and encourages fresh skin to form, which helps with tone and texture. Peels are lighter than most clinic treatments and suit regular upkeep. See our chemical peel page, our comparison of microneedling vs chemical peels, and our facial treatments.

Lumecca IPL photofacial

Lumecca uses intense pulsed light to target pigment and redness, such as sun spots, brown patches and visible blood vessels. It is a common choice for sun damage built up over years. Sun protection matters a great deal before and after treatment. Our Lumecca page and our guide to Lumecca for pigmentation and sun damage go into more detail.

Laser Hair Removal and Body Treatments

Laser hair removal reduces hair growth over a course of sessions. Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only works on hairs in the active stage, so you need several visits spaced weeks apart. It works best on dark hair. Grey, white and very light blond hair have little pigment for the laser to find, and we will tell you honestly if that applies to you. Our DiolazeXL by InMode diode laser has built in cooling for comfort. Read more about laser hair removal in Aurora, or our page on facial hair laser removal.

For the body, LPG Endermologie uses a mechanical massage technique for skin firmness and the look of cellulite. Results build over a series of sessions and need upkeep to last. See our body treatments page.

Combining Treatments Sensibly

Many clients benefit from more than one treatment, and the order matters. For example, we might relax a frown line first, then plan fillers or skin treatments over the following weeks, rather than doing everything at once. Some treatments should not be done close together, and some are best timed around events such as a wedding or a holiday. We map this out with you so you are not guessing, and we will not push treatments you do not need.

What Happens at Your Free Consultation

Your consultation is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Here is how it usually goes:

  1. You tell us what bothers you. Bring photos of how you used to look or examples of results you like.
  2. We look at your skin and face. We check your skin type and how your face moves and ages.
  3. We ask about your health. We need to know about pregnancy or breastfeeding, medications and supplements (especially blood thinners), allergies, cold sores, scarring tendencies, autoimmune conditions and recent treatments elsewhere.
  4. We explain your options. You hear what each treatment does, what it cannot do, the downtime, the risks and the cost.
  5. You decide. You can book, take time to think, or leave with a plan to come back to. Some treatments can be done the same day, and others are planned for another visit.

Questions to Ask Any Clinic Before You Book

Whichever clinic you choose, these questions are worth asking:

  • Who will treat me, and what are their qualifications? Nurses and nurse practitioners in Ontario are regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario, and you can check anyone on its public register.
  • Will I have a consultation before treatment? You should not be treated without one.
  • Which products and devices do you use? A clinic should name them.
  • What are the risks and side effects? You should hear about the less pleasant ones as well.
  • What happens if something goes wrong? Ask about follow up care and who you contact.
  • Can you show me real results? Look at before and after photos from the clinic’s own clients. You can see ours on our before and after page.
  • What does it cost in total? Ask about aftercare and any follow up visits.

Safety, Side Effects and Aftercare

Every treatment has side effects. For injectables, the usual ones are mild swelling, redness and small bruises, which settle in days. After skin treatments such as microneedling, Morpheus8, peels and IPL, expect redness, dryness or flaking for a short time, and you need to protect your skin from the sun. We give you written aftercare after every treatment, and our before and after care page collects the guidance in one place. Our posts on what to avoid after laser treatment and using hyaluronic acid after laser help with skincare during recovery.

Call us if you notice anything that worries you, such as swelling that keeps growing, a lot of pain, skin that blisters or turns very pale or dark, or signs of infection like heat, pus or fever. Do not wait and hope it passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

It offers cosmetic treatments that go beyond surface skin care, such as wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, microneedling, laser and light treatments, delivered by trained health professionals after an assessment.

Is medical aesthetics safe?

Treatments carry risks, but they are well understood when done properly. Safety depends on who treats you, the products used, your health history and following aftercare. Always ask about qualifications and what to expect before you book.

Who performs your injectable treatments?

Our certified nurse practitioner performs all injectable treatments, and your free consultation is with the person who plans your care.

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes, and it is free. It lets us check that a treatment suits you and explain what to expect, with no obligation to book.

How do I know which treatment I need?

You do not have to decide before you arrive. Tell us the concern, and we will go through the options, what each one does and what it costs.

Will I look natural?

That is our aim. We work in small steps, review your results and build from there. If you want a subtle change, tell us. If you want more, we can plan that too.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the treatment and the area. Our price list shows current prices, and we confirm your total at your consultation.

How long do results last?

It varies. Wrinkle relaxers last a few months, fillers can last longer depending on the product and area, and skin treatments build over several sessions. We explain what to expect for each treatment.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Men book wrinkle relaxers, skin treatments and laser hair removal, including beard shaping. Our approach is the same for everyone.
